In custom injection molding, quality and precision are both an expectation and a goal for each product. They also speak to the advanced knowledge of an injection molder’s team.

RJG, Inc., a leading injection molding, training, technology, and consulting company, has played an important role in developing injection molding professionals for nearly 40 years. Their RJG Master Molder® I/II certifications have long been the benchmark for excellence in injection molding.

Engineers and technicians with these designations hold themselves to the highest standards — making injection molders with RJG Master Molders on staff ideal partners for manufacturers in many industries.

To understand why and how the certifications benefit you, let’s take a closer look at what capabilities and skill sets are taught and acquired in these RJG programs.

The commitment behind the RJG Master Molder® I/II certifications

Complex injection molding applications often present challenges and opportunities in design, engineering, and/or production. Master Molders bring viable solutions to the table because their experience is backed by in-depth and specific training in disciplines such as scientific molding.

RJG breaks the training into two separate programs:

  • Master Molder® I runs over the course of 10 days, and teaches injection molding best practices and plastics behavior from the plastic’s point of view so students can make informed decisions at all process points. DECOUPLED MOLDING® II process development, documentation, and duplication are used to teach and practice scientific molding principles, with focus on scientific data collection
  • Master Molder® II builds on the teachings of Master Molder® I, going deeper into advanced processing techniques and strategies. Over two weeks, students use DECOUPLED MOLDING® III to study and practice advanced skills including controlling cavity pressures, and using in-mold sensors to monitor and adjust the molding process. Students also gain hands-on experience with RJG eDART® or CoPilot®, key systems in molding process optimization for quality and consistency

The connection between learning and applying knowledge

RJG programs are purposefully intensive in order to build, test, and elevate the skills injection molding professionals will apply in the real world to optimize molding processes.

Master Molders combine intangibles — experience, capabilities, and in-depth knowledge — to benefit manufacturers in tangible ways.

Injection molders with certified engineers and technicians are positioned to:

  • Enhance production efficiency, leading to less downtime and more throughput
  • Reduce waste by minimizing scrap and rework
  • Manage time and costs to a manufacturer’s best advantage
  • Improve overall product quality

What’s more, having on-staff Master Molders signal an injection molding partner that invests in their people to ensure the best methods and brightest minds are used to develop trusted solutions.
