Tool Maker 1st Shift
Programming, set up and operation of the Sinker EDM, Wire EDM and High speed milling machine.

We have an opportunity for a Tool Maker to diagnose and repair tools/molds to support Kaysun’s production requirements.
Job Description
Primary responsibilities include the following:
- Interpret CAD models, blueprints, sketches or verbal descriptions and visualize part to determine materials required and machines needed to fabricate tooling.
- Set- up and operate Mitsubishi EDM sinker.
- Set- up and operate Roku high speed milling machine.
- Program, set- up and operate Makino Wire EDM. Draw wire frame/profile using Surfcam/Mastercam and transferring to ESPIRIT for final programming to Makino.
- Create/program new electrodes based on existing CAD models using Surfcam/Mastercam.
- Verify conformance of machined parts to specifications through the use of calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, dial indicators, height gauges, toolmakers microscope and optical comparator.
- Polish and fit parts to tool after EDM.
- Assemble and disassemble molds.
- Operate overhead crane to move molds and mold components.
- Evaluate processes to improve efficiency and accuracy; support and incorporate Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Stay current on machining and mold making technology.
- Support, follow and promote all established safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements & Working Conditions
High school diploma or GED required.
- State indentured Journey Toolmaker cardholder preferred or a technical degree in CNC Machining or related field preferred.
- Position requires a minimum of 5 year’s experience in plastic injection mold building and/or repair, including day-to-day use of conventional and CNC machine tools.
- Prior experience in programming of CNC machine tools required.
- EDM, manual machining, and mold maintenance experience a plus.
- Experience with cutter path programming or SurfCAM or Mastercam preferred.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required. Must be able to read and comprehend instructions, memos, and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Computer proficiency in a Windows environment is required. Proficiency with Solidworks/CAD is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of NC code is required.
- Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions from written, oral, or diagram form, and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Must be self-motivated and show initiative.
- Must be able to read and understand complex blueprints.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. - While performing the duties of this job in a shop environment, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Must be able to travel occasionally.
- Works onsite daily in Manitowoc, WI location. Citizen sponsorship is not available.
